Well here we go again, back in another lockdown and back to more uncertainty about what lies ahead. We closed our doors again on 4th November for at least another 4 weeks, but we will be back. It’s going to be tough, especially as we were recently informed that The Volks has been unsuccessful in its application for a grant from the Culture Recovery Fund. We are, obviously, very disappointed that we didn’t qualify for this resource, as we believe over a period of more than 25 years, longer than any other venue in Brighton, we have supported musical genres and cultures, no matter how grass-roots or niche.
Despite this blow, and the further knock of another lockdown, we won’t let it hold us back! We will continue to do everything we can to keep going in these difficult times and keep all our amazing staff employed and continue entertaining our lovely Volks people for years to come!
We would like to say a huge thank you to our whole team for their hard work in keeping the place going since we re-opened in July. As well as a massive shout out to our extended Volks family of promoters & DJ’s who have supported the venue over the last 3 months, giving their time and skills for next to nothing, usually just a few drinks and some taxi fare home! And of course, a big thanks to all our friends and customers that have been coming to the venue since we re-opened.
We will hopefully be back open in a few weeks’ time and in the meantime, we will be bringing out a little range of merchandise and will hopefully have another surprise or two up our sleeves, so watch this space!
Keep showing & sharing the love and we hope to see you down on Madeira Drive again soon!
