BACK2BASSICS

Venue: VOLKS BAR AND CLUB

Location: Brighton, United Kingdom

Date: May 03 to May 04

Length: 11:00 pm – 7:00 am

A night of 140 – 170 debauchery designed around a “Small Dark Room. Big Fat Sound System” This time we bring a utterly legendary line up into our favourite intimate venue. All to celebrate the good old British bank holiday. We are very happy to announce we have non other than:

Distance

A pioneer of the sound from day dot! Bringing the heavy metal side of music into his Dubstep. Him and his label Chestplate have put out music like no other. Dark, grungy, heavy, head banging basslines take over when Distance is behind the decks. Not only is his selection the definition of screw face business, over the years he has made some of the most well known classics within the scene. Set yourself up for pure sub bass destruction from Distance.

Jack Sparrow

What do we need to say about the king of the Dubstep oceans. Be assured ye ol Jack Sparrow will be bring a treasure chest of dub plates along with him. We cant wait to hear what his music and his selection sounds like on that beast of a sound system. His label Navy Cuts has been doing bits and we’re sure he has even more planned for this year!! Prep for a rib tickling, eye rolling, leg breaking session from captain Jack here

Nomine

A true guru of the production of sound system music. Nomine spreads his reach across the BPM spectrum. Ranging from 120 dub techno style music to 140 Deep minimal Dubstep. All the way up to 170 were he originally came from before we called him Nomine. Previously dj Outrage, a dnb Legend. Turned to 140 mainly due to the sheer level of production freedom he felt he had. Currently teaching the next generation of producers with his Education & Bass tutorials which you can take form us are a truly eye opening experience. Lets see what he teaches us on that monster RC1 rig

Max Mudie

Max is a local legend, recently getting the recognition he deserves from Hatcha’s very own lable “Hatched” . We’ve had the pleasure of hearing max test out his new dubs on a sound system and we booked him there and then! You’ll have to trust us when we say this man has dubs for days! Cant wait to hear his music again but on the most formidable sound system Volks has ever seen.

After the last times throat clearing session how could we not invite them back for round 2!! With more power then two colliding suns were surprised the venue was still standing after the last party. With heavy weights like Distance, J.Sparrow and Nomine you know its going to rattle some chests.

Visual instalment by:

Josh Harrison

He did such a perfect job making our vision come to life at our last event, we had to get him back!! One of the best VJ’s on the circuit in our opinion. With his method of recording glitching telly’s and putting that into his programs to warp the image into unthinkable shapes and patterns. Its the most analog way of producing some visuals we’ve ever seen. And you know our thoughts on vinyl/ the analog sound in general. Seemed only fitting we get his masterfull mind back working with us for this bank holiday extravaganza
